The chakras are energy centres within the body, and all of our experiences are filtered through them. They're both physical and metaphysical.
2020 has felt pretty surreal for me. I found very little comfort from external sources, so had to really dig deep and get my Self through this. In this special blog series you're going to witness the personal and collective experience of the chakras during lockdown.
The History of Chakras
The chakra system originated in ancient India around 1500 BCE and was mentioned in the Vedas; Hindu scriptures. The tantric system arose within the same period and included yogic and meditative teachings, also mentioned the chakras.
Comparable energetic systems existed in ancient Egypt, Mayan and Incan civilisations, The African Zulus, Sufism, Buddhism, the Kabbalah and Christianity.
Civilisations that had no way of communicating with each other, and developed in isolation over thousands of years all recognise these important centres. That adds a layer of credibility doesn't it?
So what I'm writing about is not new, but it is true.
Modern Chakras
Chakra is a Sanskrit word which is widely accepted to mean wheel, and refer to the all encompassing energy centres within the subtle body. They cannot be seen with the eyes, only felt.
For those more interested in science; each chakra is closely related to an organ of the endocrine system. Modern medicine will confirm that when we experience a hormonal imbalance our whole wellbeing is affected.
Wearable health technology monitors the functioning of these energy centres. Which is ironic isn't it? Says a lot about our point in evolution; working longer hours to pay for expensive devices to track (and ultimately share) data that we can feel ourselves.
It's never been more important to look after your Self.
Join me on this journey through the sacred centres of the Self starts tomorrow, enjoy!
