Beginners Mindset

This month we’re all beginners. If you practice with me regularly then it’s likely you’ve had a break in August as I reduced my schedule… Or, you just decided to skip classes for an evening on the beach. Or perhaps your practice slipped before the summer break.

Wherever you’re at; I’ve got you! This month we are all beginners. Starting over and letting go of thinking you’re not flexible for yoga, or too injured. And for students who practice regularly a beginners mindset keeps you present!

Shoshin is a word from Zen Buddhism meaning "beginner's mind." It refers to having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions when studying a subject, even when studying at an advanced level, just as a beginner would.

I teach far more than Asana (postures). Students bravely confront their own conditioned postural habits and beliefs. How we carry ourselves sets the tone for the body, and given the connection of the body and mind; posture is everything.

‘Our conditioning is not our fault, but we are responsible for our behaviour when we notice it.’ -Original body.

My Wednesday evening Hatha Flow Yoga and Meditation Class starts on 4th September. 7.30-8.45 @ Hove Methodist Church, Portland Road. More details here.

September is an extra special month because on 29th, I’ll be co hosting the Teacher Training Taster. This is a chance to learn what’s involved in a Teacher Training, ask questions and meet myself and Claudia who will be your course leaders. As a community we’re looking for more diversity in teachers, so I invite you to give the taster some serious consideration. It might just be the beginning of something really special.

Beginners mindset is the focus for classes this month; get ready to feel brand new!

Here's my retreat schedule. Hope you can make time in your life to join me!
